ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY
CAN AN OPEN-THROAT PADDLE DELIVER FASTER HANDLING WITHOUT SACRIFICING STABILITY, CONSISTENCY OR CONFIDENCE THROUGH IMPACT?
Open-throat designs can improve airflow and reduce unnecessary material around the lower face, but that advantage can come with compromises. Removing material near the throat may reduce structural support, create an inconsistent response in the lower face and make the paddle feel less connected during blocks, resets and counters.
FIRMAMENT was developed to address those compromises as one integrated system.
Rather than relying on a single uniform core, ASCEND BEYOND uses a multi-density EPP construction designed to influence how different areas of the paddle respond. Supporting foam structures stabilise the lower face and reinforce the connection between the face, perimeter and Aero-Y throat.
The objective was not to create uncontrollable power.
It was to build a premium all-court paddle with a composed response, accessible power and enough stability to remain dependable when contact moves away from the centre.
THE MAIN ENGINEERING OBJECTIVES
Fast handling without a disconnected feel
The Aero-Y open throat removes material from a structurally demanding area of the paddle. Targeted stabilisation around the lower face is intended to preserve the hand-speed benefits of the open throat while maintaining a connected response through impact.
A balanced multi-density response
Distinct EPP density zones work together across the face rather than forcing one material to perform every role. The system is designed to balance control, stability, dwell and responsive power.
Greater confidence away from the centre
Perimeter and transition-zone support are intended to improve consistency when the ball is contacted outside the central hitting area, helping the paddle remain composed during defensive blocks, counters and fast exchanges.
A unified structure
The face, perimeter, lower transition area and Aero-Y throat were developed to function as one system. Each component supports the next, creating a paddle designed around overall response rather than isolated specifications.
ASCEND BEYOND is intended for players who want control and stability without giving up hand speed or usable power.

DESIGNED FOR SPIN, CONSISTENCY AND STRUCTURAL SUPPORT
- AstralWeave™ T700 Raw Carbon Surface - a finely engineered micro-texture designed to provide consistent traction, spin and controlled ball interaction.
- Dual carbon orientation using 0° and 90° carbon layers to balance longitudinal and lateral reinforcement across the face.
- Fibreglass backing layer adding structural support while helping create a composed, consistent response through impact.
- 45° carbon reinforcement patches to strengthen the throat transition and support load transfer around the Aero-Y structure.

AERO-Y™
BUILT FOR FASTER HANDLING WITHOUT SACRIFICING STABILITY
The Aero-Y throat was engineered to combine the fast, manoeuvrable feel of an open-throat paddle with the solid, connected response players expect from a traditional closed-throat design.
By removing material through the neck, the paddle feels lighter through swings and faster during hand battles without adding unnecessary bulk.
To address the structural compromises commonly associated with open-throat designs, the Aero-Y integrates:
- EVA reinforcement to stabilise the lower face.
- 45° carbon reinforcement patches to strengthen the throat transition.
- A reinforced Y-shaped load path to distribute impact forces more effectively.
- A dedicated throat edge guard to reinforce and protect the exposed opening.
Together, these components allow the Aero-Y to function as an integrated structural system, delivering faster handling while maintaining stability, consistency and confidence through impact.
ASTRALGRIP™
A REMOVABLE BALANCE-TUNING GRIP SYSTEM FOR PERSONALISED FEEL AND CONNECTION
AstralGrip™ uses three detachable silicone rings positioned along the handle to add mass below the paddle’s balance point.
The rings add approximately 5 g of removable weight to the handle.This shifts the perceived balance toward the hand, helping the paddle feel more head-light and manoeuvrable while maintaining mass through the paddle face.
The silicone rings also help soften vibration transmitted through the handle, supporting a more composed and connected response through impact.
Use all three rings or adjust their placement to personalise balance, grip reference points and comfort.
